This morning in my email inbox there was a message from the woman who birthed me, entitled "Future blackmail".
It was a picture I'd seen before, and remembered taking. It was me in nursey school (now, I had pure BLONDE hair back then), dressed up in a costume I reprised MANY a year growing up.
It was me, as the Scarecrow from what else, and this little girl who always annoyed me, dressed up as that wretched little farm girl from the same film.
I LOVED that Scarecrow costume, and its many incarnations as I grew. I had real straw stuffed in me, that got to be slightly uncomfortable, that I'd use to be annoying and say "They through me over there, and then a little of me over there"....
I also enjoyed being the Phantom of the Opera as a kid. And Dracula. When I exhauseted those two ideas, I, being a book nerd kid, went as the novel-- dressed up in the Phantom costume, with a box over me made up to look like a book and say, "Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux or Draucla by whatshisname. I also was Freddy Kruger and Michael Myers several times.
This year, we were invited to a costume party with a topical pop culture-y thing. It may be not the most politically correct, but I came up with the idea to, um, for a gay couple, get a white wig and a suit for one, and then a younger-ish nerdy suit which I'd attach a piece of paper to... and we could go as former Congressman Mark Foley and a congressional page.
*for those of you who may not know, Foley was a Republican politician here, who was outed as basically trying to come on to, ad nauseum, under age congressional pages who worked for him*
We have yet to flip the coin to see who will be who, but it should be fun?
