And, a gay movie if I ever saw one, "Die, Mommy, Die!"? I didn't know what to make of it. Frances Conroy, of Six Feet Under fame, THE GODDESS, was in it, with a small part. But the rest was whacked beyond wackiness. It's like, if "Far From Heaven" starred an ugly drag queen instead of Julianne Moore, and was a loony Joan Crawford-Bette Davis horror movie from the 1960's. -Bryan

It did frustrate me... at one point, I was like, 'okay, the writers screwed the time frames up'... and then I was comparing it to Donnie Darko (NOT in terms of excellence, though, just confusion whilist trying to watch a movie and keep your mind sane with the time frame at the same time)... some parts I thought, le wtf? And others, a couple scenes, like the porch scene if you eventually see it... I was like okay, I admit, that is really good.
Weird movie. Watched some foreign movie last night (Spanish), where the first hour was this younger guy, a budding director, making a low-low budget film with this older woman actress he has an obvious crush on. A film as a project for school.... it ends up him and the woman being the only two actors, and after a really strange sex scene, they do the deed for real.... and then we find out something they already knew all along... THEY'RE MOTHER AND SON!!!!!!!!!!!   -Bryan

Hey seriously though, I do want to see it. I posted a long thing about POPULAR in the Screwy Images thread in Club Diamants.. but it could just as well go here. Anyway it's very good.. and would fit in will with this thread even though its a tv show. The first two seasons are available on DVD... kinda pricy, but I'm thinking they might be cheap on ebay or something.. Oh and apparently John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the angry inch) has a new movie out called Shortbus that would fit appropriately in this thread and it's really great. I have not seen it myself yet. Oooh and I REALLY must see 30 Seconds to Pluto or whatever. Damn I cant remember the title of this movie I saw, it was so bad, there was a share house, a dead bi guy, a gay guy who was trying to be straight, got married to a woman and he was raising a baby with her who happened to fathered by the dead guy who was an ex lover of the gay guy AND the straight chick. Then there's this big fat (surely gay) guy who moves in with them for somewhat 'comical relief', somewhat plot ...er 'development'. And then there's a young latino boy who is hanging out with this young asian boy (whom you can tell is gay just by looking at him :p) yet somehow the latino boy didnt know. Anyway, of course they end up having it off and then the latino boy freaks. And that's not the half of it, omg, it was soooo bad, lmao, tis why we had to rent it. I think the back likened it to a spoof of Melrose Place...and yet you didn't get the feeling that it was that spoofish, I think it was supposed to be largely serious, but they decided they'd better promote it otherwise :lol The cover is totally misleading though, Peter and I thought we were gonna get a threesome...hmph! This weekend, it was two gems. One, was very good. Yossi and Jagger, an Israeli film about a commander in the army in love (and in a relationship) with one of his soldiers. It was very simple, yet really good in a surprising way.. it was nice to see two gay people in a movie, in love but against all odds yet at no odds with each other. The relationship seemed really real, and there was no angst "I ain't no queer/I ain't either" stuff. (No offense to Brokeback).
And then, what we watched. Oh, what we watched. My god. My god. There was a 4 for 20 used dvd special at BB, and when we saw this... I... we had to buy it. From the moment I saw the cover, I couldn't wait to come and tell all you guys about it. It's no GLBT movie, yet, ALL MUST VIEW THIS FILM. If you cannot find a copy, I will mail mine to you. Seriously. The cover says it all.  Yes, yes. It's true. It's about a Nun who comes back from the dead (???) to murder her immoral boarding school students. Now, go, kittens, and find this DVD for yourselves. -Bryan
