See, I am at my sisters so I was able to DL the iTunes v7.5 update as that is freeware, but how the hell do I get the software for my ipod updated without being connected on my computer?? Cause that's like impossible?? I have a 30GB iPod Video (now a 'classic'?). Any tips, I'd love to know ASAP! I leave on monday! Posts: 2968 11/30/07 09:13 Harold Zidler	Okee dokes. What are we trying to do? Did you download the iPod software for 7.5 on your sister's comp? Becuase I'm almost positive that you need to either download, or put the update you've already downloaded (either via burning to a CD or flash drive) to your comp, the iTunes library you use, and then run/install it. Because iPods can only be synced with one iTunes library, cause they're la anal that way. I myself have downloaded the update, but it won't install for me for some reason. I keep meaning to look at it. T downloaded the update the one night we were in NYC and he was re-whatevering his new phone, and it took like FOREVER to install for some reason. Posts: 13575 11/30/07 16:48 Mistress KATE Wild	Er, no, doesnt help lol So yes, I've downloaded the iTunes prog that runs the program on my computer (I burnt the file and loaded it on my laptop). I dont sync my iPod with my Library because my laptop is only 60GB and I wouldnt have enough room for 30GB of music. I just need to download the actual software update for the ipod itself, but cannot do so on my laptop so I think there shall be no update for me. Oh well, guess I dont really need it. I dont like the new itunes either because it killed the audioscrobbler/lastfm plug in. I shall go see if they have an updated version of that plugin though! Manual update means when you plug it in it only updates the new songs you drag in. And yeah, if you have the new one, I guess so. You HAVE to sync that.... and like, for my new Nano, I have it sync a play list just so I can have a backup, I guess. T wants to buy me the iTouch for Christmas, but it's 300 dollars, and the ginormous 80GB (the one you have? I don't have one that big), is only 250 bucks. So I don't know how to say BUY ME THIS INSTEAD! LMAO. Posts: 13600 12/04/07 23:04 Mistress KATE Wild	lol, no no, I have a 30GB, but I, sure I could give the 80GB a good work out...it would just mean plenty more room for movies, music vids and that extra sort of media that takes up a lot of space. Currently I have a Wicked Broadway doco on my iPod, probably I should deleted it :hmm So yes, in your iTunes, when the 80GB is plugged in the first time you would select manual instead of sync update. Then when you want to add music, you just import it onto your computer, drag the files to the library, then to the iPod (not sure if you even need to drag to the library first, but I do) and wallah. The only extra step that you'd be doing is deleting the files from your computer once you're done. Also, do you have something like PodUtil? Tis free. http://www.softpedia.com/get/IPOD-TOOLS/Other-IPOD-tools-Updates/PodUtil.shtml [I have a much older version, though it should still work much the same] I use it for when I want to let friends 'sample' (many) tracks from my iPod and it would also be useful if you bought a new iPod to copy all your existing files to harddrive (then CD/DVD if necessary), say from your Nano, and then you could just upload them to the new Ipod. Saves the hassle of having to rip a billion CDs again. When I download.... things.... well, my iTunes library, stuff I have on my shuffles and burnt onto CDs.. basically my entire collection of music (90%) Broadway related is MASSIVE. Ever since getting his iPhone, T wants like everything I have on his iPhone. So I spend many nights flash driving or uploading like the 1999 Revival of Cabaret with Alan Cumming onto Sendspace, from my comp, and then download onto his.... This will help?!?!?! The guy next door (my friend's husband), who watched Fiyero when we went to NY played my Gamecube, and I saw on the saved stuff that, like, he played Zelda for like 7 hours. Check out Caroline OConnor (Nini's) showtunes tribute CD! Ages back I started writing some stuff down to send to you after you had the DVD but it took forever so I only did a lil bit. I would still email that to you anyway, but tis on the dead lappy. And greeen diag screen? Have you googled it?? google solves the problems of the world! You can reset your ipod by holding down the menue button or something right? But yeah, all your music might be gone if you do that, dunno. I freaked out a few weeks back because my screen was doing weird things, turned out the battery was just gurgling and dying without me realising. ...I think i didnt lock it and it was on play in my bag all day.
