Will there really be none? Or like Van said, maybe it will be paired with the DVD in a very strange marketing move. Posts: 2338 12/26/08 05:31 fair dinkum	Amazon.com usually puts up an alert sign-up page for major movies, in anticipation of forthcoming DVD or blu-ray releases. It gives them an indication of the strength of the demand, which information I suspect is also passed on to the movie distributor/studio. I posted the creation of a blu-ray alert page for AUSTRALIA maybe a week or so ago - when there was an online rumor that the blu-ray edition may be due sometime in late February ( later amended to sometime in March). I think it is almost automatic that blu-ray editions are released these days. I have a blu-ray edition of DECEPTION, despite its poor box office showing. Btw, I was advised by a techie-relative that you can actually play regular DVDs on blu-ray players and that the DVD image will actually be enhanced. We have played Flushed Away ( requested by a 5-year and a 7-year old members in our family but watched by their elders, too - LOL), Kate and Leopold ( requested by a sibling, which I readily accomodated) and White Christmas ( that was moi!) and they all seemed clearer and sharper in image, even if they weren't actually blu-ray discs.

And also tis what I speculated the iTunes digital soundtrack would be used for, dipping toes in the water to maybe see if anyone wanted the soundtrack. I really hope there is one, even if not in hard copy ( ) then at least on iTunes. As for blu ray, my brother's tech friend was over the other day with his PS3 and gave us a demo on our HD tv, but there wansnt THAT great of a difference. This is a new tv too, like a few months old, but top of the level kind. He reckons you need an even newer kind to get the best result, sigh...dunno. Id kinda like a PS3 also though, so ... Posts: 2341 12/26/08 06:19 fair dinkum	I am not a techie but I was advised that one also has to get "super" - don't know the exact description - ( and also disproportionately expensive) cables to connect the TV and to connect the player. Also, I understand that the best illustration of the difference between players is if you watch animated movies

But that is great for us I assume that the dvd will be released smiliar as the movie, so in Germany it will be out one month later then (26 Nov USA/AUS release - 25 Dec - GER release of the movie). I wonder if it will have any special features at all at this rate! LOL! As for blu ray, I'm a bit confused about the format too, lol. I'm saving up for a massive HD LCD tv first, and maybe then I'll think of upgrading my dvd player! Posts: 1162 12/30/08 14:48 fair dinkum	Australia is region 4 but quite often the DVDs are also enabled for region 2. It's also handy that they're in PAL format. (Germany is PAL/R2 like the UK). ...without Baz and his crazy vision, I don't think it'd be happening.

Posts: 2372 12/30/08 16:09 fair dinkum	I have a multi-region player ( usually brands like Philips) which makes regional codes irrelevant. TVs these days are also multi-system ( Pal or NTSC or whatever). It is handy when you want to watch something featured on the DVD of a certain region but not found in other regions.
