Katie, how do you not know what Coraline is?
It's a luverly older children's book from several years ago. A quirky young girl moves to somewhere I think in the Pacific NW US to some big house where people live upstairs and downstairs. She thinks her parents are too boring and yada yada mice lead her to a portal to an alternate dimension house where everyone is at first seemingly so much nicer/more interesting yet they all have buttons sewn on their faces for eyes... and she find out that if she wants to stay there, she must get rid of her eyes and sewn buttons to them.
It's DARK AND TWISTED but for kids, but very fun.
Neil Gaiman is a super cool author who writes stuff like this. For kids and adults.
The movie is stop motion animation done by the Nightmare B4 Xmas producers and it's AWESOME IN 3-D. I loved it.
It just came out early February, so it will be eligible for next years Oscahs. I expect it to win Animiated Feature.
