Thank you so much to Kate for all of your hard work in making this happen, and thank you to Baz for taking the time to answer the questions. Having read through briefly, I've just taken a second, longer look, and it's thrown up a few very interesting things, especially these two quotes when they're taken together:
"I recently crossed Russia on the Trans-Siberia"
and
"By the end of the year I will need to decide whether indeed it is appropriate timing to instigate my production as my next film or whether to move it later and proceed with one of the many other works I have been developing."
Given that the 'three epics' Baz has often spoken of wanting to do are the Alexander story, an Australian story and a Russian story, this looks as though the Russian one is coming to the fore. I've been wondering for some time exactly which Russian story he'd choose, as there are so many great ones out there [ and I wouldn't even put it past him to try 'War and Peace' dammit! ] but even so he might go the same way as Jean-Jacques Annaud did with Enemy At The Gates and pick out a very obscure tiny little sidenote in history and make something amazing of it.
As to the Satie question, yes he was very eccentric. On an old vinyl recording that I have of Trois Gymnopedies there are some wonderful sleeve notes detailing the jottings that he would scribble onto his sheet music as instructions for the pianist, including: "dry as a cuckoo" for Danse Maigre, "thinking of promotion" for Sonatine Bureaucratique and "I should like a hat in solid mahogany" to denote a silly comment by the chatterbox wife in Celle qui Parle Trop.
And coming to the dinner party question. I, too, would enjoy a dinner with Shakespeare, because damn there are so many questions to ask that man. The three holy diners would be a very interesting prospect in light of the current world situation, too.
Maybe I shouldn't have limited him to just three people ;)
Again, thanks to all. Great stuff!

*waves to bazmark* lol, thought they'd enjoy that comment Des!
